SeeBass
Just saw online by a complete and utter fluke that Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk who were my first opponent when watching us play in Europe have dissolved just weeks ago!! How did I miss this?? They only just lost Europa League Final to Sevilla 3-2 in 2015!! Daugava Riga also no more after disbanding the year after we played them. Sad times. Ten Caat
Wouldn't get too upset about it Seabass. A fairly rich conman will be along shortly, buying up all the assets for around a quarter of their true value, create a new company (Dnevco) and then reapply to join the league in place of the dead club. A couple of weeks later he will announce he bought the old club too, only the company was liquidated and thousands upon thousands of Dnipro fans will buy into the con story, aided and abetted by the Ukrainian FA and press. Of course legally they won't be the same club at all and will be forced to call themselves "The Dnipro" when they are admitted to the league system, first match against Brechinski Oblast (with televised highlights usurping top league matches that day naturally). The "The" will be quietly dropped in the forthcoming weeks and Dnipro will henceforth be "on a journey" culminating with them eventually reaching the top Ukrainian league, although not without embarrassingly failing to do so at the first attempt, coming 3rd in a league where their budget is around 4 times the combined budgets of all other clubs in that league, yet getting a second chance through the play-off system and still fuck it up, getting horsed in the final by Mamawellgrad 6-1 on aggregate. Promotion will occur the following season, the press announcing that "they are back where they belong" and the club themselves will sell season tickets on a promise they are "Going for 55" despite having won nothing more significant than the Irn Bruski cup in their glorious 4 year history. Fuck Dnevco and all who sail in her....
SeeBass
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SC_Dnipro-1 This isn't them reincarnated right??
Ten Caat
No its a different club. FC Dnipro were liquidated in June. They had been relegated into the amateur divisions in Ukraine due to "financial irregularities" where they actually faced SC Dnipro in a couple of derby matches resulting in punch ups between the rival sets of fans. SC Dnipro are certainly playing their matches in the ground FC Dnipro used.
