Nice open draw then, given all the above criteria Quote
Jute Posted December 7, 2020 Author Report Posted December 7, 2020 FIFA fairly know how to drag out doing a draw. Quote
Jute Posted December 7, 2020 Author Report Posted December 7, 2020 Scotland in with Denmark and Austria so far. Group F which is a 6 team group. Quote
RicoS321 Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 Fucking Israel! Good group though. Quote
RicoS321 Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 Moldova.... that's our fuck up right there. Quote

RicoS321 Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 Yep, though I think they've actually got worse since we last played them. A fairly good draw all things considered, we're capable of an airse up against Israel or Moldova, but we could also pick up wins against either of the top two. Quote
tom_widdows Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 (edited) Israel this generations version of Estonia...or did it just seem like they were always in Scotland's group in the 90s? Edited December 7, 2020 by tom_widdows Quote
BigAl Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 I doubt any of us without the help of the much used Old Firm numbered pins of days gone by could possibly have drawn that group To those of us of my generation, this is surely a kiss of death, as we invariably perform better when under dogs. Quote
manc_don Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 As good a draw as we could have hoped for. Two favourites in Denmark and Austria, but nothing overly to fear from the others (apart from our own arse collapse). Fucking Israel though, how many fucking times?!? Quote

Jute Posted December 9, 2020 Author Report Posted December 9, 2020 Would rather have had one of the lower seeded teams to start to get points on the board early. Can see the top 4 teams all taking points off each other and this group coming down to who doesn’t fuck up against bottom two teams. Need to be winning all our home games to have a chance of qualifying. Not great set of fixtures for fans if we get to travel. Having to get out to Copenhagen then back to Glasgow then out to Vienna over space of 6 days will be an interesting logistical challenge. Quote
tom_widdows Posted March 29, 2022 Report Posted March 29, 2022 Qualified teams so far Europe Germany Denmark France Belgium Croatia Spain Serbia Englandshire Switzerland Netherlands Poland Portugal South America Brazil Argentina Ecuador Uruguay Asia Qatar Saudi Arabia Iran South Korea Japan Central & North America Canada Africa Ghana Senegal (Dodgy given multiple laser pointers being shone in the Egyptian players faces during the penalty shoot out) Morocco Cameroon (Africa retained the away goals rule) Tunisia Places still up for grabs Europe - 1 Wales Scotland Ukraine Central & North America - 2 or 3 (2 + Playoff with Oceania) USA Mexico Costa Rica South America - 0 or 1 (Playoff place vs Asia) Peru Chile Colombia Asia - 0 or 1 (Playoff Place vs South America) United Arab Emirates Australia Oceania - 0 or 1 (Playoff Place vs Central & North America) New Zealand Solomon Islands 1 Quote
tom_widdows Posted March 30, 2022 Report Posted March 30, 2022 Update Peru now into the playoff with either UAE or Australia. New Zealand in the playoff with either Mexico, USA or Costa Rica. Fair chance it will be Costa Rica as they'd need to beat the USA by at least 5 goals and/or hope Mexico lose at home to El Salvador, to get an automatic spot. All the playoff matches are single leg ties being held in Qatar in June. Fucking genius move by FIFA given they moved the finals to December to avoid the heat. Quote

wokinginashearerwonderland Posted April 1, 2022 Report Posted April 1, 2022 I am all for the hosts not having to qualify because a host nation not being in their own tournament would be a bit crap but why on earth are Qatar a top seed, makes a mockery of the whole draw. Also increases the possibility of one of the top nations going out early with Holland and Germany both being in pot 2 when one of them could/should be in pot 1. Quote

Qatar have always been one of the giants of the game. It was just anti Arab racism that prevented them from bringing home the trophy in previous years. Quote
