Goldie03 Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 I've just started paying attention to this tournament which means Murray will be pumped out next round. Just to warn you. That usually happens to me tho he has survived me watching him 3 times now Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 I don't think it is unfair at all. Federer played his A game in both finals but Murray simply didn't play well, serve, as per usual, playing a significant role in those defeats. 2 finals, 2 poor performances. He's a damn fine player but he does have a brittle temperament. Quote
Goldie03 Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 3am start during the night - aaarghhhh Quote
manc_don Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 3am start during the night - aaarghhhh Did you stay up? I see he went through after 4 sets. Probably good for him to have a contest before the semis. Quote
Kowalski Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I have seen none of this due to the time the matches have been on but hopefully see the semi. Looks like Ferrer may win the first set against Nadal! Talk of Nadal being injured. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/9373831.stm Quote

glasgow sheep Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 When is the semi? Although I'll probably avoid it as he will lose it I watch it Quote
mizer Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 When is the semi? Although I'll probably avoid it as he will lose it I watch it Saturday, 3pm, Hampden park Quote
Kowalski Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Nadal on the verge of going 2 sets down! Quote
mizer Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Nadal on the verge of going 2 sets down! He is Quote
BigAl Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Nadal on the verge of going 2 sets down! Fucking hell.......... Guessing thew Murray semi is in the early hours of Friday morning, which makes it a non starter for me, as night out in Liverpool on Thursday Quote
BigAl Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 See that Ferrer has never beaten Murray on hard court YET Quote
BigAl Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Ferrer is humping Nadal! Broken SEVEN times Quote
Ptayles Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Broken SEVEN times World number 1 getting broke seven times is mental. Ferrer's played some good tennis Quote
BigAl Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 5-2..... Nadal serving to stay in it Quote
BigAl Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 All over, bit of a disappointing end for Nadal given what was at stake Quote
Ptayles Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 All over, bit of a disappointing end for Nadal given what was at stake Yeah, Nadal just didnt look there though. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Talk of Nadal being injured. Looks like that was probably right. Right Mr Murray, less of yer nose bleeds! Quote
stoney Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Would love to see Murray winning one, but i question he has the bottle for it. Think he has the old monty syndrome. Quote
Tyrant Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 GS - I'm deliberately not paying attention for that same reason so he'll be ok. Fuck sake! The first action of the whole Australian Open that I saw was Murray's 3rd set tie-break against the Ukrainian lad which he lost. As soon as I changed the channel he started winning again. Quote
Sonoftherock Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Looks like that was probably right. Right Mr Murray, less of yer nose bleeds! Not sure if your on the wind-up, but again this is just nonsense. I watch plenty of Andy Murray and it's years since he's had a mental breakdown. However, his teenage years, the tantrums, petulance and huff - will always stick in the mind of those who don't watch much tennis. He's a different person these days - he's grown up. How many of us weren't huffy and tempremental when we were in our teams? I actually believe that mentally he's one of the strongest players on tour these days. Not since he was 20, have I seen Murray beaten by himself.... only ever by a better tennis player on the day. In the majors, he's just not been good enough. Yet. Simple as that. I don't know much about golf, but as I understand Montgomerie had the game to win a major... you simply cannot say the same about Andy Murray. He has never been world number one and there have always been better players than him. He hasn't been worthy. Federer and Nadal have always been better. It's not correct to say he's bottled the majors - that suggests he's thrown it away. Which is incorrect and disrespectful to probably the greatest player who's ever lived. If Murray is good enough, he'll win one of these - I'm not convinced he is, but I live in hope. I think Federer has been on another level. I've watched both, in the flesh, at Melbourne park this week and Federer is a long way better than Murray right now. If he does beat Ferrer on Friday, he'll have to bring his game to a new level and play better than he ever has in his life to beat Federer in the final. Murrays serve was poor today and if he serves like that on Friday, and Ferrer returns the way he did to today, Andy Murray will be out. Nothing to do with a bloody nose. Quote
