Kowalski Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 What a shite weekend of sport! Yup. Quote
manc_don Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Djokovic was absolutely astounding. Fully deserved victory, but as you say brownybrown, shite weekend of sport Quote
RDU_64 Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Murray currently on course for the 'Montgomerie Award' of being one of the finest players of his generation never to win a major championship. Quote
CtS Posted January 30, 2011 Report Posted January 30, 2011 Fucking bottler. I wonder if he's any good in goals? Ach he's still got some time on his side, but you've got to think he wont get many better chances than today to pick up a GS. Quote
caledonia Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Shit but in all honesty the other player was as good as Sonoftherock says he would be. Quote
Tyrant Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I only saw the first set because I had stuff to do but Murray and Djokovic were closely matched and I was convinced it was going to go down to a tie break. Not to be! I now have doubts that he'll ever win one because it's likely to be years and years before he gets a chance as good as that. And sporting careers are short. Quote
Kowalski Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I'm not convinced by this "that was his best chance" talk. He'd have had just as good a chance, if not better, if it was Federer he was playing in the final. Djokovic is on fire at the moment and he and Murray know each others' games far too well. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 the difference in Djokovic and Murray is that Djokovic is able to produce top level tennis consistently for the whole match, something that Murray seems incapable of at the moment; he's up and down with his game within one match never mind just within a tournament. Quote
tsr Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Think the difference was that Murray started on fire in the tournament, he was done by the 4th round where as Djokovic had so much more to give. Murray is a great player Quote
Kowalski Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Monte Carlo Masters Semi v Nadal is on Sky Sports 3 this afternoon: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/13101650.stm Expected to be on at around 2pm. Quote
Kowalski Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 A brutal match but Murray is storming the second set. Looks like it'll go to a third. Quote
manc_don Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Live on BBC now http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/9501131.stm Come on Murray! Quote
Azteca1903 Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Through. I wonder how much that match will have taken out of him though. Quote
Tyrant Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Well he certainly did it the hard way there! I think mentaly it will have done more good than harm. It will be a confidence booster to have looked beaten so often during a match and still winning it. Physically he may have gotten off lightly because as far as 5 setters go it was far from brutal. And played over 2 days of course. He'll need to try and make light work of Chela. Quote
Kowalski Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Got a great chance of getting to the semi now. And I don't think Nadal is by any means a shoe-in to win his quarter. Quote
Goldie03 Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 And i have sneaked a day off tomorrow so I can watch it live Quote
glasgow sheep Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Sorry to disappoint you all but as I have an afternoon off I will probably be watching Andy's game which means he will lose and be knocked out the French Open Quote
Tyrant Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 He's making a meal of this. He certainly did. I think he's bitten off more than he can chew with Nadal though! I can see it being one of the most one-sided semi finals ever. 6-0 6-2 7-5 Quote
manc_don Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Nadal's form hasn't been the best this year though has it? I'd be more concerned if it was Djokovic. Quote
amp Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 I think it will be close between Nadal and Murray. Quite simply, Nadal doesn't have the edge on clay against opponents that he used to have. Injuries are taking their toll on him, and the rest of the field is getting better all the time. Provided Murray is 100% fit, I think he will take this in a decider or 3-1. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Nadal must be happy. According to the BBC webside Murray's win set up a Nadal semi! Quote
