glasgowdon Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Yes ECWC shown in the build up, along with Jim Clark, Lawrie, McColgan and Chris Hoy et al! Well done BBC! Goosebumps watching that.  Quote
maverick sheep Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Murray needs to get more first serves in because Federer won't keep making so many unforced errors. Fucking hell the nerves have got me fair keechin ma breechs!! Quote
manc_don Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 After a promising start, he looks like a beaten man. Federer just has too many answers to anything Murray throws at him. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 They said the roof would favour Fed and that seems to be the case, even still he had plenty chances to save that sixth game. If he's going to do it it's going to be the hard way Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Lost to an exceptional player in exceptional form. No shame in that and a good thing that as he got his pic taken alongside Fed he looked to be raging. Signals a good mentality and a stronger one than he's displayed previously. Quote
maverick sheep Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 5/1 for the US Open. Same odds as last year or two, but he's a far far better player between the ears than previous seasons. Previous three finals he was a boy against a man, today he was a man against a legend. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 That 6th game in the 3rd did for him, what was it, about 20mins long? Compared to previous Grand Slam finals he came out and looked like a winner at the start instead of crumbling within the first 20mins. He'll have plenty more chances Quote
Kowalski Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 That 6th game in the 3rd did for him, what was it, about 20mins long? Completely agree, it was the longest 20 minutes of my life. Utter torture. Well played Murray but Federer was different class after the rain delay. Very difficult scenes at the end with Murray in tears! He strangely may have gained a lot of fans after that. BobbyBiscuit Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Completely agree, it was the longest 20 minutes of my life. Utter torture. Seriously? Quote
Madbadteacher Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Knew he was done for as soon as he lost the second set, sadly. He needed to at least get it to a tie-break and keep winning his service games. Still he's got closer to winning a grand slam than I ever did! Quote
Kowalski Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Seriously? It was murder watching him try to win that game. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 It was murder watching him try to win that game. it was the longest 20 minutes of my life. Utter torture. Fucking hell. You need to get out more mate. Quote
CtS Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Kow's obviously never spent the 2nd half of an away game at killie in the donstalk chat room. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 We got to our hotel in Hardelot Plage just in time to see Murray leading and playing the second set. Unbelievably, I ended up watching most of that shite. Murray's girlfriend. Hmmm... Murray's mother. Hmmm... Murray. A man who loves a playstation more than sex. Hmmm... The dog died. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Kow's obviously never spent the 2nd half of an away game at killie in the donstalk chat room. That's not murder, just makes you want to COMMIT murder Quote
baggy89 Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Soon as he started talking to himself and contesting blatantly pointless decisions he was fucked. Psychological rather than ability related. Too much time as child playing tennis rather than socialising and becoming a balanced adult so still acts like a spoiled child as soon as things begin to go against him. Quote
Tyrant Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Overlooking the large amount of utter fucking nonsense in this thread for the time being at least I can confirm that despite having almost £60 on Federer it didn't help cushion the blow one bit I have stuck a wee score on 6/1 for the US Open. I didn't catch anything that happened after the match winning point but I gather Murray said he was getting closer which is right and with Rafa's knee(s) in bad shape why can't he reach more finals? Valiant effort but you cannot miss (seemingly the vast majority) of your first serves in a slam final especially when your second serve is so poor. If Murray had gotten his first serves in like he did towards the end against Ferrer then it would have been much closer. What also didn't help was that Murray didn't get a single challenge correct the whole match and Federer only got 1 wrong. Quote
glasgowdon Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 He had a few chances to break Federer in the second set and just played the wrong shot at the wrong time. Federer showed us all what it takes to win titles though, what a champion. I'm sure the the commentators said it was his first grand slam in 2.5 years? Incredible if true. Quote
BigAl Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 Go Andy Wimbledon runner up. Olympic Gold Medalist and US Open Champion has a nice ring to it Quote
manc_don Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Would be fantastic if he pulled it off. Been tempted to upgrade my ss package for it. Played some great tennis in the US open, hopefully he can carry it through into the final. Quote
manc_don Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 Playing Djokovic tonight. Anyone know which channel its going to be on? It's not appearing on any of the TV listings. Quote
manc_don Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 Sky Sports 1 @ 20:00 Cheers Quote
