Kowalski Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 So that could be Scotland's greatest sporting achievement? Only the likes of Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart can rival that surely. Quote
Goldie03 Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Wow that was fantastic - an amazing, incredible tennis match Allan Wells in Moscow, Aberdeen Fc in Gothenburg and now Andy Murray in New York That was totally worth staying up for Quote
CtS Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 76 years from now, overweight, tattooed men in council estate pubs will sit boozing and talking shite whilst proudly wearing overpriced Andy Murray polo shirts. Quote

BobbyBiscuit Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 So that could be Scotland's greatest sporting achievement? Only the likes of Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart can rival that surely. Aberdeen in Gothenburg. Tims in Lisbon. Sandy Lyle - Augusta, Player's Championship and The Open all within a few years of each other. It is a great achievement though, hope it's the first of many for him. Seems to have a different attitude with Lendl as his coach. Quote
bloo_toon_red Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Seems to have a different attitude with Lendl as his coach. Resilience, staying power and less emotion. Now is his time to really break the dominance of the Djoker-Fed-Nadal triumverate. Best player in the world at this precise moment, needs to look at what Djokovic in the early part of last year and use that as inspiration. Pwoud, vewy pwoud! Quote
manc_don Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 The appointment of Lendl has been a masterstroke and the progress has been there for all to see. I still can't believe what I witnessed last night. What a summer of sport it's been! Quote
tlg1903 Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 I see from the news he is British again Re Scottish sporting greats i would add Steven Hendry to that Quote
scunnered999 Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Fantastic Summer for British Sport, capped off nicely by Mr (soon to be Sir) Andy Murray Quote
glasgow sheep Posted September 11, 2012 Report Posted September 11, 2012 Fantastic Summer for British Sport, capped off nicely by Mr (soon to be Sir) Andy Murray Is it just me who finds it ridiculous anyone under the age of about 50 and especially anyone still actively competing in their sport being knighted. Of course the whole thing is a farce but that's a separate discussion Quote
