manc_don Posted July 8, 2021 Report Posted July 8, 2021 I see a lot of hissy fits elsewhere about the hacken game and us not being favourites due to this result. Personally, we were never going to be favourites against a team that has already started competitive football. Especially given where we’re at (complete rebuild). I didn’t think we deserved a euro spot anyway so this in my eyes is a bonus competitive pre season match. So much work to do, it’s going to be a tall order to progress IMO. wish I shared your optimism for the season KFP, it’s not something I’m feeling right now! Quote

Agree that we won't be favourites, but of the 22 who played today only 4 were new signings so not exactly a complete rebuild underway. I'm neither optimistic, nor pessimistic, I simply haven't a clue how we'll do. It was always fairly predictable under McInnes. Quote

I know he got an elite sport exception, I just don't get the logic behind it. Given the level of service our strikers usually get, it probably counts as self isolation 1 Quote

RicoS321 Posted July 15, 2021 Report Posted July 15, 2021 That pretty much justifies the decision to play less friendlies, if there were any doubts previously. The next month is going to be fairly precarious with the level of infections. Unless they change isolation rules, it's going to cause issues. It'd be interesting to know if our players have been vaccinated. You'd think at least Brown, Considine, Hayes, Gallagher and Lewis would have been. If the government decide to reduce isolation times for those vaccinated that haven't tested positive it'd be good to have as many jagged as possible. Quote
