I've had my macbook (retina display) for nigh on 7 years, and the other day a vertical white line appeared on screen and has not shifted.  I'm figuring its something LED related or however the retina display works, but is it salvagable? It's very thin at the mo, but it's dead zone and i'm hoping there is either a fix or it won't expand.

Cheers

My 2013 macbook pro screen died 2 years ago, worked on a monitor via hdmi. Booked a genius bar appt. It was caused by a known fault, whereby the display screen cables became worn over time. Turned out that wasn't a recall issue but there was a recall on that generation for the anti-UV coating being shit and flaking off. Got the screen replaced under that recall and it's still going strong. Can't remember if mine was year before retina display or not? Worth a go if you're near an apple store.
