Calderwood keeping an eye on Queen of the South

Clydesdale Bank Premier League Spl Latest...

ABERDEEN boss Jimmy Calderwood will put his side's bid for a top-six slot on the backburner today as he goes on a Scottish Cup spying mission.

Calderwood will be at Stirling to run the rule over semi-final rivals Queen of the South instead of watching Hearts' attempt to clinch a top-six slot of their own when they take on Kilmarnock.

The boss is desperate to lead his side to a Hampden final and is ready to do his homework in a bid to land silverware.

He said: "My job is to watch Queen of the South ahead of our Scottish Cup tie and what happens at Rugby Park will take care of itself.

"Sandy Clark watched them on Tuesday night against Livingston but I like to see teams in the flesh.

"But it may not help me because I have a feeling Queens may not play their strongest team.

"I saw them with a full team earlier in the season against Partick Thistle and they performed well.

"But these scouting trips are always beneficial because you can from different ideas.

"We always try to build up as much information as we can and this game is part of that process. Sandy's report reinforces what we already knew - it will not be an easy tie.

"Steve Tosh and Sean O'Connor didn't feature and they are massive players for Queens."
