Mackie's ace! Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I'll probably end up renewing since I'll be in Aberdeen but might consider it a bit more as I'll have to pay proper money to see us play now. If I didn't buy one I'd probably end up going to as many pay at gate games as a season ticket would cost anyway... Quote
sheep_shagger Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Unlikely that i'll be back this season, the only possible game is Motherwell due to proximity. As for next season, no doubt i'll be back but hopefully have a couple of exciting signings just to make sure of it. Quote
TheChimp Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Was going to head up for the United game, but that idea has been scrapped. The season is finished. See you in August. Quote
Superstar Tradesman Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 The season was over the minute the board sold Hart & Clark for peanuts. Quote
capitalsharpie Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Agreed. Not wanting to start a 'sack the board' rant or anything, but does any blame lie with the board as to the current state of our squad? Quote
Kowalski Posted April 14, 2008 Author Report Posted April 14, 2008 The season was over the minute the board sold Hart & Clark for peanuts. Hart is a loss but did we not get a 6 figure sum for Clark? Quote
Kowalski Posted April 14, 2008 Author Report Posted April 14, 2008 Fishy fishy? Who? Getting a fee for Clark, let alone a 6 figure sum, was good business IMHO. Quote
Mackie's ace! Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Who? Getting a fee for Clark, let alone a 6 figure sum, was good business IMHO. I suspect ST was fishing by saying that we got peanuts for Clark when everyone was amazed we got £200k for him. We still miss him though. Quote
capitalsharpie Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Surely thats the point though, that its not good FOOTBALL buisness if your selling your most useful players off. Yes we got 200k or whatever for him, but how much more have we LOST not having a team that can compete and get us back into Europe and the biggest game financally in the cup? Quote

Shouldn't take it so seriously I know particularily as I thought I'd seen it all in the past forty years of following the good ship AFC but just cannae help it Quote

Ironic really that folk are now missing Clark. Dinnae mind too many folk [ myself included ] being upset at his departure for £200k Quote
Mackie's ace! Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 But we didn't sell Clark for peanuts. Hart is still injured, so wouldn't be playing anyway. And if anyone here believes that Clark would be the difference to losing 2 semi finals and scraping top 6, then I'd be very surprised. Quote
Mackie's ace! Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Ironic really that folk are now missing Clark. Dinnae mind too many folk [ myself included ] being upset at his departure for £200k I always thought he got a hard time from certain areas of our support, but £200k was a good deal. Quote
Jute Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Do not think Clark going was a bad thing as he was not that good a player. The problem is that he has been replaced by a player, Duff, that is even worse. Quote
BrownyBrown Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I always thought he got a hard time from certain areas of our support, but £200k was a good deal. Its only a good deal if we go on to do something which can add value to our squad in terms of quality using the £200k that we got for Clark. If we don't do anything with it then its not a good deal at all - just getting rid of another squad player. I don't doubt that it was a good piece of business, but it remains to seen if that will translate to anything on the pitch. So far, no. Quote
